I ❤ school visits and book fairs! I often talk in a library or gym or auditorium bursting with third, fourth, and fifth graders or sixth graders, seventh, and eight graders. Public schools, private schools, co-ed or all-girl, English or Spanish / French Immersion, I'm game if you are. My fee is not high because I love what I do (sí, oui), and sometimes I speak pro-bono or schools split expenses. But authors and local bookstores appreciate it if you can distribute order forms so kids can buy books. Happy to sign 'em.

One of my passions is getting young kids fired up about reading and writing. But I like talking to high school and college students about the ins and outs of a writing career too. I've also talked to parents about parenting, and preteens about surviving middle school. Sometimes a health teacher or counselor or librarian will ask students to scribble a question on an index card, and I'll answer on stage. I like spontaneous Qs and As too.

Skype visits are also possible. Ask me about setting one up. And it's nice when stores and schools team up, as Politics & Prose did with a local school (see below). PS Am always looking for excuses to visit friends in Denver, Dallas, D.C., Atlanta, Sarasota, L.A.

Don't forget to order books for yourself or your library. And whenever possible, support local bookstores and "indies" when you host authors. A win-win!
