Headline News!

I'd love to meet you! I'll be at the Princeton Book Festival THIS Saturday Sept 23, 11 to 4. and at Eastchester's Barnes & Noble THIS Sunday Sept 24, 12 to 4. Lots of other authors will be there too.

My new novel, SPEED OF LIFE, is at Amazon and Indies and is now an Audible book. This is my most personal novel and I'm thrilled that the New York Times Book Review says: "funny, perceptive and moving...I laughed out loud and I teared up while reading this novel. ...” (Heck, I teared up reading this review!) New York Post calls it "Required Reading" and KirkusPublishers WeeklySchool Library Journal and Booklist gave it starred reviews. It's an American Library Association Notable Children's Books Nominee, and I can read you the first page! On TV: NY1 and Twin Cities Live. On radio: NPR's WOSU.

Want advice? I've been "Dear Carol" at Girls' Life since 1994. SPEED OF  LIFE's Dear Kate is inspired in part by the letters girls write me. The book is also inspired by my losing my dad when I was too young to bear it... The novel is for ages 11 and up and is about first love and the challenges of blending families. It's set in NYC, Westchester, and Spain.

Let's say hi.

I've been on Today and Oprah, but what I *love* most is meeting readers. I can Skype your school in English or Spanish or French. ¡Sí! ¡Sí! Oui! Oui! Just ask.

October book festivals: ChappaquaWarwick! In NYC, I'm speaking at Nightingale, Oct 6, and at the New York Society Library Nov 9 at 6:30... PS "Skype Moment of the Week" and "Publishers Weekly Photo of the Day"!

Will you think I'm shallow if

I suggest you jump ahead to the HALL OF FAME photos section? It's fun/silly/cool. From Judy Blume to Colson Whitehead to Lin Manuel Miranda....click

What else?

The first of my 16 books, GIRLTALK: All the Stuff Your Sister Never Told You, came out in a dozen languages. AVA AND PIP, AVA AND TACO CAT, and AVA XOX are now in paperback. They're the diaries of a fifth grade "word nerd," ideal for ages 8 to 12. The New York Times says AVA AND PIP is "a love letter to language" and "perfectly captures the complexities of sisterhood." Enjoy this quick video about the series, available at Indies and Amazon.

Poke around to watch helpful videos and read very personal essays. Click on my Facebook page, and Twitter or Instagram. Check out my books in libraries, or buy Indie or Amazon. In School Library Journal, you can read Five Things I've Learned From Being an Advice Columnist. For class or book clubs: Speed of Life Discussion Guide.

Husband Rob Ackerman is a playwright and does props for SNL. Daughter Lizzi has a pancake business, Birch Benders, and was on the Today Show and in HuffPo. Daughter Emme, whose name is a palindrome, is an archivist for NBC. And we all love our old rescue cat Mike.
